Gethsemane Lutheran School’s mascot and corresponding logo is the falcon. Each of our athletic teams sport this unique mascot as it helps to unify us as a student body.

These characteristics of the falcon correspond with our school’s mission:

Wisdom & Discernment – GLS exists to educate young minds and instill wisdom for use in daily life and future endeavors. This includes academic knowledge and spiritual discernment as we prepare children for a life of service in the community and the church.

“From infancy you have know the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” – 2 Timothy 3:15 (NIV)

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)

Courage & Determination – GLS students are trained to do everything to the best of their God-given abilities. Each of us was created to give glory to God and we do so with full effort, a positive attitude and good sportsmanship.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” – Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

Vision & Focus – GLS students learn to keep their eyes focused on Jesus through everything. As children go through life and socialize with classmates, compete in sporting events, face issues, experience hardships or confront any situation – they do so with the knowledge that they are a redeemed child of God.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” – Romans 3:23-24 (NIV)

Success & Victory – GLS provides a thorough academic education and training in the Word of God. It is our goal that each child achieves their highest potential in life. Whether it is on the sports field or in the classroom, at home or in the community – we want each child to know that true success and their true victory is in Jesus. His sacrifice for us gives us the ultimate victory!

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:56-57 (NIV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 (NIV)
