Corey Pederson - Lead Teacher (Grades 7-8)

Mr. Corey Pederson has been our lead teacher since 2000. He currently serves as our 7th & 8th grade teacher, lead teacher and athletic director. Prior to Gethsemane he served for one year at St. Paul Lutheran in Riverside, California. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota in 2000.

In his free time Mr. Pederson enjoys watching, playing and coaching sports. He also listens to music and can be found listening to classic rock while he works or relaxes.

Mr. Pederson loves being able to see the spiritual and academic growth of students over the years. He sees that Gethsemane has been blessed with great students, supportive families, caring teachers and a committed congregation that provides Christian education to anyone who is seeking to have God's Word connected to their child's elementary education. It truly has been a great place for Mr. Pederson to serve!

Jenny Hunt - Teacher (Grades 5-6) / Music Director

Ms. Jenny Hunt has been teaching at Gethsemane since her assignment in 2011. She currently serves as our 5th & 6th grade teacher, music director and aftercare director. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota in 2011.

In her free time Ms. Hunt likes to relax, read, play piano, cheer on the Packers and travel to see family. Her favorite part of being in the ministry is knowing that she is working as part of a dedicated team that spreads the good news of salvation to Jesus' lambs and their families.

Anna Hemmelman - Teacher (Grades 3-4)

Ms. Anna Hemmelman has been teaching at Gethsemane since her assignment in 2020. She graduated from Martin Luther College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Education including a minor in middle school mathematics.

In her free time Ms. Hemmelman enjoys cooking and baking, listening to music, staying active, visiting with family and friends and traveling. Her favorite part of being in the ministry is getting the opportunity to work alongside so many different people to further God's kingdom. She considers it a joy to serve with fellow children of God who are all one in mission.

Robin Nunez - Teacher (Grades 1-2)

Rebekah Fincham - Teacher (Kindergarten)

Mrs. Rebekah Fincham has been teaching our Kindergarten since 2014. Prior to GLS her teaching experience included the following: 2nd grade at Divine Savior Academy in Doral, Florida (2011-2014); Para/Educator at Overland Trail Middle School in Overland Park, Kansas (2010-2011); Kindergarten at Divine Savior Academy in Doral, Florida (2008-2010); K/Uppergrade and K-2 at Mt. Olive Lutheran in Overland Park, Kansas (2003-2008); 1st and 2nd grade at St. Andrew in Chicago, Illinois (2001-2003); Preschool director at St. Andrew in Chicago, Illinois (2000-2001); Kindergarten at St. Paul Lutheran in North Hollywood, California (2000); K-2 at St. John Lutheran in Peshtigo, Wisconsin (1999); K-4 at Peace Lutheran in Holiday, Florida (1997-1998). She graduated from Martin Luther College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education.

In her free time Mrs. Fincham enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading and working out. She loves getting to share the love of Jesus with His little lambs and their families. She considers it a blessing to work with a faculty who is dedicated to serving the Lord!

Wendy Roberts - Teacher (Grades 7-8, Departmentalized)

Mrs. Wendy Roberts has been our departmentalized 7th and 8th grade teacher since 2016. She also teaches some classes to the 7th and 8th grade students at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Omaha. Prior to GLS, she taught at Northdale Lutheran School in Tampa, Florida (2008-2013) and Southern Lutheran Academy in Mulberry, Florida (2004-2006). She received a Bachelor of Arts in History/English from the University of Maryland-European Division in 1995. She also received her Teaching Certification in Secondary Education from the University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in 1996.

In her free time Mrs. Roberts loves to read, grow things and watch movies. She also listens to and follows baseball and enjoys traveling with her family.

Mrs. Roberts loves being able to include God's Word in any subject she teaches. Having the freedom to teach a variety of subjects in a way that makes sense and working in a small classroom environment surrounded by supportive families and staff are some of the blessings she sees in our ministry.

Jessie Hunt - Preschool Director

Mrs. Hunt is our preschool director and head preschool teacher. She graduated from Martin Luther College in Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. Prior to Gethsemane she served as the preschool director for Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Preschool in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Karen Sloan - Office Secretary

Mrs. Karen Sloan has served in the office administrative support role at Gethsemane on a part-time basis since 1997. Serving the Lord at Gethsemane brings Karen a lot of joy. In addition to her work in the office, she serves as an organist, sings in the choir, serves on the Worship Committee, and assists with altar care. You might also find her at church with a paint brush in her hand, as she is the first to volunteer any time a painting project comes up.

Karen is married to her high school sweetheart, Jeff Sloan. They have been blessed with three children, who are all happily married. When she isn’t at church, Karen enjoys card making, playing pinochle, traveling, volleyball refereeing, and painting. Both she and her husband enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.
