Corey Pederson - Lead Teacher (Grades 7-8)

Mr. Corey Pederson has been our lead teacher since 2000. He currently serves as our 7th & 8th grade teacher, lead teacher and athletic director. Prior to Gethsemane he served for one year at St. Paul Lutheran in Riverside, California. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota in 2000.

In his free time Mr. Pederson enjoys watching, playing and coaching sports. He also listens to music and can be found listening to classic rock while he works or relaxes.

Mr. Pederson loves being able to see the spiritual and academic growth of students over the years. He sees that Gethsemane has been blessed with great students, supportive families, caring teachers and a committed congregation that provides Christian education to anyone who is seeking to have God's Word connected to their child's elementary education. It truly has been a great place for Mr. Pederson to serve!

Jenny Hunt - Teacher (Grades 5-6) / Music Director

Ms. Jenny Hunt has been teaching at Gethsemane since her assignment in 2011. She currently serves as our 5th & 6th grade teacher, music director and aftercare director. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota in 2011.

In her free time Ms. Hunt likes to relax, read, play piano, cheer on the Packers and travel to see family. Her favorite part of being in the ministry is knowing that she is working as part of a dedicated team that spreads the good news of salvation to Jesus' lambs and their families.

Anna Hemmelman - Teacher (Grades 3-4)

Ms. Anna Hemmelman has been teaching at Gethsemane since her assignment in 2020. She graduated from Martin Luther College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Education including a minor in middle school mathematics.

In her free time Ms. Hemmelman enjoys cooking and baking, listening to music, staying active, visiting with family and friends and traveling. Her favorite part of being in the ministry is getting the opportunity to work alongside so many different people to further God's kingdom. She considers it a joy to serve with fellow children of God who are all one in mission.

Robin Nunez - Teacher (Grades 1-2)

Mrs. Robin Nunez has been teaching at Gethsemane Lutheran since 1998. Prior to this she taught for 8 years in the Omaha Public School District. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1990.

In her free time Mrs. Nunez likes working with a variety of art mediums, watching old movies and documentaries, gardening, walking, and spending time with her husband and dogs. Her favorite part of the ministry is serving His lambs with dedicated and faithful team members who love their Lord and the children they teach.

Leslie Brauer - Teacher (Kindergarten)

Mrs. Leslie Brauer was called to teach Kindergarten at Gethsemane in 2004. She taught for six years until 2010, when she started her family. After staying home to raise her family for 15 years, she is back in the classroom teaching Kindergarten again.

In her free time, Mrs. Brauer enjoys spending time with her family, playing piano, running, and reading.

Mrs. Brauer loves being back in the classroom again. Each day is a true joy that brings new opportunities to teach little ones about Jesus. What a blessing it is to be part of this ministry!

Wendy Roberts - Teacher (Grades 7-8, Departmentalized)

Mrs. Wendy Roberts has been our departmentalized 7th and 8th grade teacher since 2016. She also teaches some classes to the 7th and 8th grade students at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Omaha. Prior to GLS, she taught at Northdale Lutheran School in Tampa, Florida (2008-2013) and Southern Lutheran Academy in Mulberry, Florida (2004-2006). She received a Bachelor of Arts in History/English from the University of Maryland-European Division in 1995. She also received her Teaching Certification in Secondary Education from the University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in 1996.

In her free time Mrs. Roberts loves to read, grow things and watch movies. She also listens to and follows baseball and enjoys traveling with her family.

Mrs. Roberts loves being able to include God's Word in any subject she teaches. Having the freedom to teach a variety of subjects in a way that makes sense and working in a small classroom environment surrounded by supportive families and staff are some of the blessings she sees in our ministry.

Stacey Sievert - Preschool Director

Mrs. Stacey Sievert joined the staff in 2025. She has been in many places; Freeport, Il, Ixonia, WI, Lincoln, NE, Wausau, WI, and Crete, IL. Her experience has been in grades PreK through 6th grade in varying capacities. Mrs. Sievert earned her degree in 1984 from (Dr.) Martin Luther College and since then has taken many classes and workshops. She has a teaching license for the state of Wisconsin.

In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy going to car races and sporting events, especially hockey games. Mrs. Sievert also enjoys reading, sewing, and crocheting. Mrs. Sievert feels blessed to be a part of the Gethsemane ministry especially haring Jesus with the littlest ones and their families.

Dawn Varner - Office Secretary

Dawn Varner currently serves as our part-time office administrative support at Gethsemane. She is retired after 35 years with Omaha Public Power District. Dawn is married and has three daughters and several grandchildren (3 girls and 2 boys) who keep her busy and smiling. She loves reading, gardening, walking, traveling and, of course, spending time with her two dogs.

Emily Zadina - Office Secretary

Emily Zadina currently serves as our part-time office administrative support at Gethsemane. Emily also works in child-care part time at the YMCA, and prior to this she has stayed at home with her children. Emily is married and has 3 children and 1 on the way. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and being outside.
